Brendan quite literally “fell” into his calling to pursue Traditional Chinese Medicine. While working in residential construction, Brendan fell off a ladder from the second story of a house injuring his tailbone, legs and ankles. In his quest to heal his body he explored a myriad of treatment modalities but only found success through acupuncture. This discovery set him on a path of learning, and a pursuit of his passion to develop a career in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Brendan feels a tremendous amount of awe and respect for this system of medicine, and feels very lucky to be able to practice it and continually study. In short, Brendan’s fall led him to his calling.
Brendan holds a BA from Queen’s University where he studied Philosophy. He graduated with honors from the acupuncture program at SSC Acupuncture Institute and received the Masanauga award for promoting Traditional Chinese Medicine and representing the highest standard of excellence in the field. He is now a registered acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO). Never one to settle, Brendan has pursued the tutelage of many Asian medicine masters from the US, Japan, New Zealand, China, and at home in Canada. These extra studies have given him the skillset to treat complex illnesses beyond the usual pain patients like; multiple sclerosis and depression (Suzanne Robidoux), neurological disorders such as post-stroke paralysis (Jason Hao – click here for a very moving video highlighting Jason’s work), fertility and obstetrics (Debra Betts), medical pulse diagnosis (Robert Doane), and much more.
“I approach health from a pragmatic point of view. The most important thing to me is that people get better and live healthy and happy lives. I respect and use the classical teaching from thousands of years ago but I also take advantage of the most cutting edge technology that’s available like low-level laser therapy for injuries and electrical stimulation of the scalp for depression. It literally relights up the areas of the brain that are affected in depression patients giving them a new lease on life!” -Brendan Dolan
